GivingTuesday is a global day of giving back to the causes you care about. Keeping the Blues Alive is a proud partner of GivingTuesday. Join us on December 2, 2024 and donate to help preserve music education in schools so we can continue our mission of Music Education for the Next Generation.
What is GivingTuesday?
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.
When is GivingTuesday?
GivingTuesday is held annually the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and is held on the same day in most participating countries in the world.
Okay that’s great, but why give on that day specifically?
As a result of both Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday has become a MASSIVE global effort to remind each other that the holidays are about giving and selflessness. In a time when we are usually spending so much on our own families, it feels good to be able to give to those families that may not have the same opportunities for growth, loving families, and access to music and education.
When did GivingTuesday start?
GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past several years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Where do the funds go?
The funds will go to helping keep music education in schools. Schools have been through a whirlwind this year. Music is a powerful outlet to help children cope with difficult times, and as such, music education in schools is a vital part of a child’s emotional health. Your GivingTuesday donations will help us fund music programs across the country and keep music programs a part of students’ everyday lives.
How can I participate in GivingTuesday?
KTBA hosts an annual auction called “7 Days of Giving” in support of Giving Tuesday. The auction takes places seven days leading up to GivingTuesday and over the last three years, $46,000+ has been raised. The auction features collectible and one-of-a-kind items such as signed guitars, lithographs, autographed vinyls, and more, all to benefit music program materials, instruments, and repertoire.
