ZZ TOP: THAT LITTLE OL’ BAND FROM TEXAS
Besides being a band from Texas, specifically Houston, what really blows my mind is that in 2019. They celebrated 50 years of being a band. Why stop at 50 when you got a good thing going on? I’d like to think that they’ll be in their 90s and still be hammering out the blues! Furthermore, the band started out in 1969, as a trio of cowboy rockers who played some mean dirty blues.
They’re from Texas you have to be edgy, in your face and ready to play some serious raw blues. And we wouldn’t want it any other way! Here is one of our favorite blogs that we did for KTBA about how great these guys are! Enjoy! Here at KTBA just like Joe, we’re all very sad to hear about Dusty Hill’s recent passing. Our condolences to the band and to Dusty’s family!
ZZ TOP: THAT LITTLE OL’ BAND FROM TEXAS – Documentary
This documentary tells the story of three teenage bluesmen who became the biggest, most beloved bands on the planet. Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard have maintained a surrealist mystique that still today, intrigues fans. The band members attend the premiere and embark on their 50th Anniversary Tour. It’s still available on streaming platforms. Even if you are already a fan, the documentary is still pretty cool to check out. Especially in the early days.
“I think even our most steadfast fans will find themselves surprised by what they learn about those men behind the beards and cheap sunglasses,” Billy F Gibbons said of That Little Ol’ Band From Texas. “There we are, up on the silver screen and it’s something we’re delighted to share with fans of all stripes.” – Check out this great video on celebrating 50 from 2019:
ZZ Top embarks on its 50thAnniversary Tour.
On August 16, three days after the film’s premiere, ZZ Top embarked on its 50th Anniversary Tour. Billy, Dusty and Frank zig zagged across the North American continent and played more than 30 dates, with Cheap Trick and a few with Lynyrd Skynyrd.
