Van Halen Leaves an Impression

Van Halen performs their first concert at “The Rainbow” in Finsbury Park, London, England, Great Britain, 22 October 1978. After their performance, hey leave quite an impression with the audience. Especially with singer David Lee Roth doing some high-flying antics on the stage.  As a result, photographer Fin Costello is able to capture it all on film.

Fin was born in Glenamaddy in Galway (Ireland) and grew-up in Cork by St Lukes. He emigrated to London (UK) when he was 19 years old and took up a trade as a sailmaker. In 1966 he begins photography as a hobby and discovers he has an aptitude for it. Initially he begins working for magazines as a sports photographer. Later, he moves onto working with bands.

In a career spanning 40 years he has worked with some of the most influential names in the music business, including Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, The Police, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, Kiss, The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. In 1981 Fin’s photograph of Duran Duran featured on the front cover of the band’s debut album Duran Duran. To see more of his work check out one of his sites:
