The Black Pumas – Video of The Week
Although the Austin-based rock band The Black Pumas was nominated for three Grammys, sadly they didn’t win this time. But, no worries, they still can hold their heads high because their fan base just became a whole lot bigger.
And quite honestly, they already had a serious following before and after the Grammy’s because the city of Austin loves their music and their bands! But at least they’re now on the map and no longer under the radar. Furthermore, 2021 is going to be their time to shine even more. Check out their performance from the Ellen Show below:
The Black Pumas – Overview
Led by singer Eric Burton and guitarist Adrian Quesada, the came together when Eric Burton decides to leave California and moves to Austin. Once there, a mutual friend introduces him to Adrian Quesada, a former member of the Latin funk band Grupo Fantasma.
As it turns out, Quesada is looking for a vocalist for some funk and soul tracks he’s been working on. Officially forming in 2017, they start playing around Austin and shortly after word gets out about them and they’re doing nightly shows throughout the week and becoming a hot commodity as well.
Either way, as musicians, they create a nice balance and musicality within the band. Burdon’s vocals are top shelf cognac with a warm caramel, the lyrics are great, and the guitar playing is kick ass! What more could anyone want? Enjoy!
