Get ready for the perfect blend of soul, sass, and blues with this hot band on the rise: Southern Avenue.
The band’s guitarist Ori Naftaly, originally from Israel, visited the United States in 2013 to participate in the International Blues Challenge competition on behalf of his home country. He received great praise for his chops and placed in the semifinals. At that point, he decided to stay in the US and began touring with his own band.
After a while, the project was still in the water and he began looking to go in a different direction. That’s when he met the spirited vocalist Tierinii Jackson and her talented drummer sister Tikyra, from Memphis, Tennessee.
They took off running, delivering a high-energy spectacle of blues, gospel, and soul music. They toured all around the US and even parts of Europe and in less than a year, were signed to Stax Records. Their self-titled album Southern Avenue was released in February 2017 and featured a member from the famed blues-roots band North Mississippi Allstars.
Their album struck a noticeable chord with blues fans and critics as hit entered the Billboard Blues charts at number six. With powerful and passionate lyrics from Tierinni and burning blues solos from Ori, this band is primed and ready to take on the music scene and show us what they’re made of. Expect great things from this band in 2018 and beyond!
