Marc Broussard and Drew Angus-(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay
Marc Broussard and Drew Angus come together to perform an epic cover of an “Otis Redding” song.
Well, all I can say is that Otis Redding is smiling down on these guys covering his song. Furthermore, both of these artists easily take a classic song and make it their own. First up we have Marc Broussard who was weened on a wide variety of music at a very early age. Also, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree either considering he’s also the son of Ted Broussard. Otherwise known as the guitarist of the Boogie Kings.
So, you can see where some of that soulful grittiness in his voice comes from. also, his influences come from Otis obviously, but also Brian McKnight, John Hiatt and more. And then you got Drew Angus that can take a song and add some pop flavor to it and makes it his own. Hailing from Brooklyn, Drew found his love for music growing up in a house filled with the sounds of artists like Tom Petty, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Influenced by these classic rock sounds mixed with artists of today like Ben Rector, Jason Mraz, and John Mayer. These voices combined with his own city life experiences, relationships, and obstacles gives Drew a unique and dynamic sound in today’s pop rock/singer-songwriter world. Needless to say, it’s no surprise that these two musicians would eventually cross pathes and create something great!
“Live From Dockside Studios”
“Live From Dockside Studios” recorded in Lafayette, LA is the result of Marc Broussard’s invitation to come down and film videos for YouTube. It features acoustic versions of originals and a cover of Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay” with Marc Broussard.
So, you can see how this interesting combination happened. Either way, both of these artists deserve the attention and love that they are now receiving. For more info on these two artists, check out their web-sites below and see what other surprises you come across. Enjoy!
