Joss Stone Featuring Mavis Staples

“What more can we say about these two women except that they’re having the time of their lives singing together! Furthermore, there’s nothing more we love than to see a younger artist showing their respect to iconic artist who came before them. These two iconic singers are performing the iconic song from the Staple Singers “I’ll Take You There”.  Which is at the ending of this great video. Showcasing some of her favorite songs growing up, Joss is on stage first singing her versions of tracks from Bowie, Queen and more! Mavis is performs shortly after

SoundStage: Joss Stone feat. Mavis Staples

While most music shows in 1974 air musical performances that are lip-synched and very cabaret-ish. Which is cool, but “Soundstage” takes a bold approach by emphasizing what really matters. The live performances actually being live and improvisational. For those not familiar with Soundstage, they’re a live television series by WTTW Chicago and HD Ready. Furthermore, the original series airs for 13 seasons between 1974 and 1985.

Shortly after, a new series of seasons began in 2003, with the latest (Season 11) starting in April 2018, each presented in high definition with surround sound. Although, the show ends in 2018, today, these performances are available on DVD.

Featuring Joss Stone and Mavis Staples, “Soundstage” Season 3, Episode 12 airs on 10/6/2005. First up is Joss Stone and then shortly after, Mavis Staples performs a few of her favorite tracks while being her fierce self. Lastly, both of these amazing women comes together as a duet to sing the Staple Singers hit, “I’ll Take You There”.

Likewise, this is why we need to make sure that we all don’t forget to appreciate the great music from the past while creating great musical moments in the future!
