John Lee Hooker & Friends, Live From The House Of Blues

John Lee Hooker knows how to do things with a lot of pizazz! So, it’s no surprise that when he does a show, he brings the whole blues scene together and does it right!  This classic video is a recording that John Lee Hooker did live at “The House of Blues.” It was recorded for a WLUP-FM Broadcast, in West Hollywood California in June 1995.

The Talent That Showed Up

It was a rich combination of talent that assembled in one place for a spectacular display of collaborations. It features some impressive names from the blue scene at the time.  The night starts out with John Lee Hooker’s own Daughter Zakiya opening the event backed by the Duke Robillard Band.

Added to the day’s event was a prized collection of genial giants such as Charlie Musselwhite, Taj Mahal, Ry Cooder. John Hammond, Lazy Lester and of course, the boom, boom blues of the legendary John Lee Hooker. Duke Robillard’s band offered a prominent backing for most of the guests and sealed the day with Ry Cooder’s subliminal workout alongside Hooker for his signature R&B romp, “Boom, Boom”.    Enjoy!
