JJ Cale and Eric Clapton – “Call Me The Breeze” Live

Eric Clapton and JJ Cale join forces for one of Cale’s original compositions, widely known by the cover that Lynyrd Skynyrd included on their sophomore album “Second Helping”. The original appeared on JJ Cale’s 1972 release “Naturally”. JJ Cale’s version is ever so slightly calmer, but it’s still great getting to see it performed by the man who wrote it. Once you have a blues legend like Eric Clapton throw a solo over the top of it, the stakes get even higher. Clapton recorded a cover of the song for the tribute album “The Breeze”: An Appreciation of JJ Cale” in 2014.  Any time Mr. Clapton sits in for a song, it’s guaranteed to turn some heads, and judging by the reaction the crowd gives at the end, I think it’s safe to say they approved.
