When you listen to Jeff Healey rip it up on the guitar your mind and ears only focus on one thing, his immense talent. Then, when you look him up on the trusty Google machine, you learn that not only did he lose his eyesight to a rare form of ocular cancer, but he also has a very unique yet odd playing style.

Jeff Healey is known to play a standard guitar on his legs like a lap steel but played with his actual fingers on the fretboard instead of a slide bar. It is truly remarkably to see and hear. He was first a successful jazz guitarist, “releasing music of traditional American Jazz from the 20’s and 30’s.”

However, he is most remembered for his fiery blues chops. He has shared the stage with some of the most notable bluesmen in the business including Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top, and many others.

Sadly, he passed away in 2008 due to an aggrieve form of cancer in his lungs.
