Jeff Healey – Angel Eyes – Video of the week:

Jeff Healey’s “Angel Eyes” became a hit for Jeff Healey in 1989This performance of “Angel Eyes” is from a live show at ‘Healey’s Roadhouse’ in Toronto, on December 28th, 2006.  Performing with him is Healey’s House Band.  It features Dave Murphy on keys, Alec Fraser on bass, Dan Noordermeer on guitar and Al Webster on drums.  

For over two decades, Jeff Healy enjoyed a successful music career that spanned rock, blues and traditional jazz. Grammy nominee and Juno award winner, he was a radio personality, a jazz historian and world-famous record collector. He owned a collection of 1920’s and ‘30’s jazz 78s that would ultimately top out at over 30,000 records.

The Jeff Healey Band

With the Jeff Healey Band, he recorded five studio albums and contributed to the soundtrack Patrick Swayze’s Road House. A film in which Jeff and the band were featured prominently. Over the years, Jeff’s reputation as a player and a person led him to perform and record with some elite artists.  For example, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, John Mayall, Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, Lenny Kravitz, George Harrison and many more.

Fan of Jazz

In addition to countless recording sessions as a guitarist, trumpet player, singer and producer. Jeff also recorded three albums of the traditional American jazz that he loved so much. Just prior to his untimely passing, Jeff put the finishing touches on the award winning ‘Mess Of Blues’. His first rock/blues album in nine years.

In March of 2008, the world was devastated by the loss of Canadian music icon, Jeff Healey. His passing left a hole in the hearts of his family, friends and many fans around the world. The passage of time has allowed his family and friends to re-examine the rich musical legacy Jeff had left them.  They started the “Jeff Healey living legacy project.”

He left wonderful contributions to the world of Jazz, Rock and Blues. Whether it was his brilliant guitar playing, soaring trumpet, soulful voice, or even the charities he championed. Jeff’s inner light has always shone through. The aim of this site is to highlight all aspects of Jeff’s diverse career, charities, talent and more.
