So, I know my faith in the future in music is usually less than positive in most cases. However, through avid searching and recommendations from coworkers, friends, and troves of helpful internet folk, most of us can find music that peaks are interest and satisfies a need for quality musicianship.

Just this morning, a coworker, who has a little more faith than I do, stumbled upon a upcoming blues artist who is helping ease my concerns and trepidation about the music industry. He is a blues guitarist and vocalist named Devon Gilfillian.

Gilfillian and his band are bringing a form of traditional sounding blues with additions of gospel undertones and powerful organ stylings. Gilfillian isn’t afraid to crank up his overdrive and tremolo pedals as he glides across his strings with a Derek Trucks style bottle slide.

This great blend of pure blues and gospel, sprinkled with newer technology and tasty grooves is what aims to change the game. Gilfillian is blending his love for Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, and other styles to create music that is “equal parts swampy, funky, and enthralling.”
With only one EP and this fantastic Audiotree video series, this guy is definitely going to be one of the good ones and someone to look out for in 2018!

Hope you enjoy this week’s blues in motion video!
