Eric Steckel – At age 12 gets his big break when he gets an invitation from Blues legend John Mayall. Later that night at the 2003 Sarasota Blues Festival, he gets an invite to play live on stage with him. Weeks later, he gets the invitation to go on tour with him and his band. “The Bluesbreakers.” Yeah, you heard that right! Furthermore, Mayall pretty much mentors him about life on the road and playing the blues!
Nowadays, he’s still kicking out the jams and a few over the top guitar solos as well! Since then, this Blues veteran has spent 22+ years on stage and doesn’t look like he’s stopping anytime soon! At age 32, he’s touring and playing! Check out the “Empty Promises” video below and get inspired!
Since then, Eric has launched a successful solo career releasing 11 albums, developing signature guitars, pickups, & amps and touring in 30 countries. Has shared the bill with Steve Vai, Gregg Allman, Johnny Winter, John Mayall, Ray Charles, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford among others and is named one of “10 Future Blues Stars” by Guitar Player Magazine in 2021.”
Just like most kids that want to play guitar, he started listening to his parents albums which mainly consists of southern rock, metal, hard rock, and of course the blues! He picks up his guitar and starts spending hours in his room trying to figure out how to play like his icons. Many hours of practice!
