KTBA Donates Percussion Equipment to Middle School Band

STANBURY PARK, UT – Thanks to your donations, Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation donated percussion equipment to the middle school band program at Bonneville Academy.  This equipment included a new bass drum, snare drum with stand, a set of crash cymbals w/ folding stand, a cabasa and timpani mallets – all the necessary timbres to complete the percussion section!

Mr. McGroarty explains, “My wonderful music students come from a diverse background of which many are first-time musicians. These students have had little or no playing experience until this year. My goal as their music director is to provide them with a first-class musical experiences. My students need to have the right equipment in order to be a successful musician and it is my desire to help them achieve that goal.”

Bonneville Academy’s music program is one of several within a STEM-based curriculum (no arts) and through the efforts of our teachers, we can offer our students a top-notch educational experience through music and other areas of the middle school curriculum.

That is where KTBA and the Torchbearer Program swoop in!

“This percussion equipment requested will serve between 8 and 10 students each year. Currently these students are using drum pads which to not give them the best playing experience possible. This equipment will allow them to gain the full musical experience by learning the various percussion equipment options.”

Thanks to the donations of Joe Bonamassa fans and music lovers like you, these students will have brand new equipment to round out the percussion section for the next decade.  This is ultimately increase attendance, productivity and of course, musicality!

Mr. McGroarty expresses his gratitude:

Dear Keeping The Blues Alive Foundation, Inc.,

My heartfelt thanks go out to those individuals who were willing to fund my project. I am so appreciative that there are individuals who love the arts as much as I do. Being in music for over 40 years, I have found that passing this knowledge to others is a great reward. My students will love the donation and take full advantage of this contribution by making beautiful music and keeping that dream of music alive within them. I can’t wait to show photos of our concerts using this equipment to you.

With gratitude,
Mr. McGroarty
