KTBA Funds After-school Guitar Class
SAN BERNADINO, CA – Thanks to your donations, students at Soar Charter Academy will receive almost a dozen new guitars to support their after-school guitar program!
“As a teacher at a school where 75% of students come from low income/high poverty homes, many of my students face not only academic challenges, but also social and emotional challenges,” Mr. Faehnrich explains.
Mr. Faehnrich teaches history at the school, but wanted to see his students excel in other more expressive areas of scholastic achievement.
“Middle school students have the unique challenge of trying to find sense of who they are in addition to the outside challenges they face. In my history class, I want students to learn how to be good citizens and people of influence through a variety of instructional strategies. I am also continually looking for ways for students to find their voice, their passion, their outlet. When they find this, they find their confidence. It can be in academics, sports, music, art. My students’ needs are as diverse as their backgrounds and our school does its best to meet all of those individual needs.”
In an effort to ignite the students’ passion for arts and music, the school will be starting an afterschool guitar club and then expand it to other instruments. It will be the spark they need to form ensembles in the future.
“Bono once said, ‘Music can change the world because it can change people.’ Having a set of guitars will allow our students from families with financial difficulties to participate in our after school guitar lessons. This can be an avenue for students to find their creative outlet, confidence, and passion.
Thanks to the donations from Joe Bonamassa fans and music lovers like you, 20 students will be able to partake in this afterschool guitar program.
The guitars will be shipped this week.
Every week, Keeping the Blues Alive makes a donation to a school in need of sheet music, music supplies, instruments and more.
