KTBA Supports Elementary Guitar Program
WILLISTON, FL – Thanks to your donations, KTBA donated new guitars to elementary students at Williston Elementary School in Florida!
“My music class is a place where students are excited to learn and discover all aspects of the Performing Arts,” Ms. Kinnunen says. “Students spend this year learning the foundational skills used to succeed in the world of music.”
This Title I school in North Central Florida is comprised of over 500 of the most amazing 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who come from all different walks of life.
Whether they are learning to play instruments, singing songs, composing their own music, or dancing to music from around the world, they are excited to explore the world of music. They use their creative minds and talents to become the best musicians they can be.
“As a music teacher, it is my goal to introduce to a love of music at a young age. I want my students to experience as many musical experiences as they can,” she adds.
The addition of new guitars will enable students the opportunity to compose their own songs, perform songs of all genres and learn basic techniques and chords to enhance their musical knowledge.
“Right now, my classroom has 3 working guitars, however, for class sizes with 23-25 students, having three guitars makes it hard for students to teach/learn guitar.”
Thanks to the donations of Joe Bonamassa fans and music lovers like you, these students will be able to experience guitar lessons and pedagogy on a more efficient level.
Ms. Kinnunen expresses her gratitude:
Dear Keeping The Blues Alive Foundation, Inc.,
Words cannot describe how thankful my students and I am for your generous gift! When I told them the news, they were beyond excited. For many of them, my music class will be the first, and possibly only, experience they have playing a musical instrument. With these guitars, my students will be able to have an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives, and for that, I am forever grateful.
