Bobby Bland – Medley
Performing at the “New Daisy Theater” in Memphis, Legendary Bobby Blue Bland, Johnnie Taylor and Bobby Rush singing together. Later, it becomes the live album, Bobby Blue Bland: “Live” on Beale Street. Although today he’s universally recognized as a bluesman, Bobby Bland was actually singing “soul blues” decades before the term was ever imagined. While this performance combines some of Bobby “Blue” Blands’ newer selections as well as several tried and true crowd favorites.
Some of the featured songs include “St. James Infirmary,” “Farther On Up the Road,” “That’s the Way Love Is,” “I Pity the Fool,” and “Soon As the Weather Breaks.” A medley between Bland and guest stars Johnnie Taylor and Bobby Rush breathe new life into “Stormy Monday,” giving the audience a few good chuckles.
‘Bad’ Bobby Rush and Johnnie Taylor joins Bland on stage and the southern soul fans get excited. Rush is typically hilarious, and J.T., in one of his last appearances, shows what an absolute superstar he was. As he belts out the Bland staple ‘Stormy Monday’. Bland continues to please his fans throughout the world, proving once again that he is the exception of what a fine accomplished blues singer should sound like after fifty plus years in the business.
