Bobby Bland, B.B. King & John Lee Hooker

Bobby Bland, B.B. King & John Lee Hooker

Bobby Bland, B.B. King and John Lee Hooker are all performing at The London Blues Festival in 1982. One summer evening in 1982, at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. Blues fans had the good fortune to spend some time in the company of Blues royalty. Headlining this triple trifecta Blues giants B.B. King, John Lee Hooker and Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland. From this picture you can see the camaraderie among them. From the articles and information that I came across, John Lee Hooker is truly the man in command. While tearing the place down with his performance.

The Performances

Starting out the show is John Lee Hooker as he performs under the spotlight with his guitar while stomping his foot in time with the music he’s playing. It’s said that Ronnie Wood is in the audience prompting Hooker to perform a “boogie” version of the Stones’ (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction and Muddy Waters, I Can’t Be Satisfied.  Preferring to have a full band performing with him, B.B. King takes to the stage with his favorite girl in tow “Lucille”.  Shortly after Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland takes the stage with his band and plays several hits.

After their individual performances, all three come together and performs a series of songs together. For those in the audience, it is a spectacular performance! Captured through the lens of David Corio who is in the right place at the right time.
