Billy Idol – Photo of the Week

Billy Idol. While he’s showing off his signature snarl, to the crowd. Luckily, someone is able to capture this moment when he’s at the top of his career back in the 80s. When Idol makes his mark in the 80s music scene. Even though some of us already knew about him as a part of band Generation X. The band before the man.

Even more, here he’s caught on film circa 1984 after the release of his solo album “Rebel Yell.” As you can imagine, he’s performing all of his knockout hits to the screaming fans at the massive Nassau Coliseum. With his longtime partner in crime, Steve Stevens by his side tearing it up on lead guitar, it’s no surprise that he’s a hit on MTV.

Starting off is “White Wedding,” “Eyes Without A Face” and “Rebel Yell”. As well as several numbers from his tenure in Generation X coming to the surface during this performance. Such as the set opener “Ready Steady Go,” “Kiss Me Deadly and “Dancing With Myself,” and his revved-up cover of Tommy James & The Shondells’ “Mony Mony,” capping off a double encore.

The Band:

Billy Idol – guitar, vocals; Steve Stevens – guitar; Judi Dozier – keyboards; Steve Webster – bass guitar; Thommy Price- drums, percussion
